The National Forensics Doctor has officially denied that [the cause of Ruhollahmeini’s death] was a Meningitis infection. In conversation with the Mehr political correspondent, a well-informed source added that “On the 25th of Mordād (August 16) the National Forensic Commission provided the final result and their official opinion about the cause of Mohsen Ruhollahmeini’s death to the legal authorities and the relevant parties [involved with the investigation].”
He added, “Based on this report, it was announced that [Ruhollahmeini’s] death was due to physical stress, poor [prison] conditions, multiple brusies, and strong blows to his body and that the notion that his death was due to a meningitis infection was strongly rejected.
This source also described the event, saying “Mohsen Ruhollahmeini died as a prisoner at Kahrizak prison in materially unfit conditions during the time that [the need for his] transfer to Evin prison was [recognized due] to the bad physical conditions, but in the end [there was] a delay of 70 minutes before he was transferred to the hospital and unfortunately [during that time] he passed away. Thus, when he arrived at Evin, he was basically not admitted [to the prison].”
During a recent meeting with university students, the Supreme Leader stressed that crimes and violations and crimes have taken place [by those] in custody of all under arrest in Kahrizak, and they will be swiftly brought to court, tried, and punished, [but] today some of the media has announced that the official cause of Mohsen Ruhollahmeini’s death was affliction with disease!
A source told Mehr: Given the sensitivities of high-ranking officials in the follow-up to the violations that occurred, prejudices and any falsely published news could a lead to deviation from reality. The impact of the legal process is intended to evaluate [the actions of] national officials for adjudication and the doling out of justice. He requested that the tracking of these notifications be sent to those responsible [for the violations].
According to the Mehr report, the Supreme leader ordered the closing of Kahrizak prison in his first published report that was issued. [The report detailed] illegal conduct toward detainees in that prison and encounters with wayward and delinquent agents. In this respect, some special committees of the Majles and the Supreme National Security Council [are] also meeting with witnesses while the investigation is pending.
Last night, his holiness the Ayatollah Khameini also stressed in a meeting with university professors that the Islamic system is not done dealing with violations and past and present crimes.
